Through grants with Families Helping Families of Iowa, we’re able to provide foster children with two complimentary haircuts a year — once at the Back to School Rally and once at another point in the school year — thanks to the time and goodwill from the professional salons and stylists who continue to support the mission of Families Helping Families of Iowa.
Foster parents and guardians can complete our online application below or visit the Families Helping Families office for more information.
Who qualifies for Haircuts for Kids?
Eligible children (ages 1- 18) must be currently in foster care. Haircut vouchers are valid for use in Northeast Iowa, including Waverly, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Marion, Coralville, Iowa City, and Council Bluffs.
Ames, Des Moines, and the Quad Cities, which are owned by other franchises, may not accept the vouchers.
How do Haircuts for Kids work?
Funding is granted once per 12-month calendar year based on the date of the last approved application. Additional haircuts are also available at the Back-to-School Rally in August. All requests are subject to board approval and are contingent upon available funding. Families Helping Families has the right to reject applications as necessary.
